We are hoping finals don't kill us. Mostly James. Mine won't be too bad, but James might be swamped. He went yesterday from 10-3 to explore the canyon he has to map. Today will be all day studying. With religion, statistics, math, and petrology.
Here's a video that somehow links me (I work at Independent Study), James (he is good friends with the guy in this video, who happens to be a geology major), and studying for final exams.
So there you have it. Study.
Well, in other news, a week ago I got my student teaching placement for the Fall! It was the best email to receive. I'm so excited! It just feels so great to know who I'm assigned to and what's going on. It was like opening a mission call!
Except not quite the same, I guess.
Yeah, not at all, actually.
Dear Miranda:
Thanks for being patient while we have worked our way through placement issues this semester. You have been assigned to student teach at American Fork Jr High School in the Alpine District. Your cooperating teacher will be Travis Lemon. You will work closely with a partner who has been assigned to the same school and cooperating teacher. You will also belong to a cluster group involving students who will be assigned at a nearby school. Scott Hendrickson will be your university supervisor. You will report to your school on September 3rd.
We are looking forward to the semester and hope that you will find it
both challenging and rewarding. We hope that you are excited as you
anticipate it.
Sincerely,
Bob Wadley

And now I have a whole summer to wonder how it will be and what I will do. Will the teacher be nice? Will the students like me? Will I be so nervous that I do a terrible terrible job? I know the person who's assigned to be my partner, and she's awesome! I had an observation class with her a few semesters ago. We used to go to Einstein Bagels for breakfast after driving to schools to observe (very boring) math classes in the mornings. I aspire to be a non-boring teacher someday.
People will call me Mrs. Moore! Isn't that just awesome?!
Yes, yes it is.
Yay! You should see if you can go observe the teacher after finals are done, but before the school year ends. It'll give you an idea of how he runs the classroom before you start in the fall. I hope you love it! And good luck on finals!!
ReplyDeleteThanks!!! Yeah, I've emailed him and he said he'd try to set up a couple days in May and August! According to my professor he is a really great cooperating teacher.
DeleteHa, so fun! Congrats, Miranda!
ReplyDeleteThanks! :D
